Cooperation with University of KwaZulu-Natal on FSM Research
- Details
A“viscous heater” developed at Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) and Oklahoma State (OSU) Universities, and tested at University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in Durban, was donated to the Polytechnic. The heater kills faecal sludge pathogens mechanically. Blessing Makununika and Albert Muzhingi- researchers with the developing team - commissioned the technology in Blantyre for evaluation on local sludge by Polytechnic students. UMKC/OSU will have alternative designs at other locations in the coming months and Polytechnic data will be included in technology assessment. We thank our International partners for supporting WASHTED’s faecal sludge management work!
